Nature-Informed Therapy

Swipe burning out for the fire within.

This unique, embodied, and evidence-based approach combines the benefits of counselling, gentle exercise, and intentional time spent in nature.

Nature-Informed Therapy, sometimes referred to as Ecotherapy, is offered during all four seasons.

There is an overwhelming amount of research showing that being in direct contact with nature relaxes your nervous system and gives us the opportunity to incorporate what you're exploring at the moment. Just as walking in the outdoors is an option for counselling, so is finding a spot out in nature to sit for our counselling session.

Is this for Me?

The benefits of nature-informed therapy include present moment awareness, stress reduction, increased social connections, better overall positive mood and improved sleep quality. Please read my blog on the 5 Health Benefits of Nature-Informed Therapy. Alternatively, you can read this research paper I originally wrote for the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association's COGNICA magazine (p.25) that gives a general overview of Nature-Informed Therapy. After meeting for our first session, we can discuss if this option is suitable for you.

There are some risks when engaging in nature therapy, so I always conduct an informal assessment beforehand to gauge your fit. Confidentiality is always of utmost importance. In an outdoor setting, there are variables that I cannot control. It is imperative you understand the limits to confidentiality when we are outdoors. I will make every effort to create a situation where you are comfortable and secure. To learn more, Contact Me
