Open Mic as Medicine

There’s something really special about gathering in a room where people can just be human together. I’ve been going to the open mic nights at Wild Art Therapy Collective led by the fabulous therapist Sarah Benoit and every time I leave feeling lighter, more connected, and more alive. People share poems, songs, artwork, stories from psychedelic journeys, or even a new drumming instrument they’ve been learning, all with this beautiful ocean view in the background.

What I love most is that nobody has to perform perfectly there’s so much diversity within this community. People just get to express what’s on their heart and be witnessed in it. In a world where loneliness has become such an epidemic, spaces like this matter deeply.

As both a counselling therapist, consultant and now someone integrating art therapy tools and guided imagery into my practice, I see over and over how healing non-verbal expression can be. Singing, music, storytelling, and creative practices help regulate the nervous system and stimulate the vagus nerve, supporting connection and emotional release.

My course Nurturing Your Intuitive Soul helps you connect on a soul-level to self care through an intuitive, self-care practice.

If you’re curious about working together through counselling, guided imagery, or expressive arts approaches (or if you want to collaborate), reach out by email or book a consult.
